About Us

Founder and Artist Darren has a long spanning career as a 3D modeler and Art Director in the video games industry in California. Working for companies such as EA games, Trion, 2K games and more he became the 'go to' guy for human likeness work in particular. 

But when his wife bought him a 3D printer in 2015, making 3D models for games quickly became less interesting than the sheer unadulterated joy of creating digital models that would become tangible, physical objects, especially those that could be worn. Costumes for the kids came first, and that developed into helping talented costumers get accepted into the 501st and other costuming clubs involved in 'The Mandalorian' universe. 'GreatApeStudioArt' on Etsy quickly became a key provider of extremely screen accurate 1:1 costuming 3D models.

Darren now lives in his home country of the UK along with his equally sci-fi nerdy American wife (who helps out in MANY ways with Great Ape), 2 sons and 2 cats.
