FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can you send me a printed part?

Not currently sorry no. Most of our customers are in the US while we're based in the UK so shipping costs make that impractical.

2. Can you help me with 3D printing instructions?

Apologies but no. The hobby of 3D printing requires some technical ability. Each individuals printer, setup and quality / time goals are too unique to be able to provide a reliable answer.

3. What If a 3D model is too big for my printer?

Most people get around this issue by using 'Meshmixer' which has an easy to use part split function. Many 3D printing slicers also have this function.

4. How do I size a part to my body?

With our helmet files, a sizing tool is included. For body parts a lot of people swear by the program 'Armorsmith'. We'd also strongly recommend the simple approach of making rough paper templates. Even a paper cylinder wrapped around your forearm can give you a really good sense for how long a gauntlet should be.

5. Can I sell printed parts of your 3D models? Without permission, no. Great Ape files are not for commercial use. Please understand too that there are many makers in the US in particular already selling parts made from Great Ape models. Many without permission or crediting. So there may be reluctance on our part to increase this number but please contact us using the email button on the bottom of the site.

6. Do you take 3D modeling commissions? Not commonly but possibly. Please contact us using the email button on the bottom of the site.
